Computational oncology,investigational biology.

Explore AVATAR's exploratory workflow and Twin's documented analytical architecture — and how a collaboration is scoped, governed and approved.

Research & academia · storyline

Investigate the biology behind the variant.

OnKommon AVATAR is a biological investigational plan — and Twin is a documented analytical architecture.

01 / 06 · Interpret

Read the tumour genome.

Whole-exome sequencing is catalogued, filtered and annotated, and each alteration is weighed against curated evidence by the OnKommon Interpreter.

OnKommon AVATAR

Two evidence streams for translational questions

OnKommon Interpreter

Computational
  1. 01Tumour genome
  2. 02Variant analysis
  3. 03Evidence interpretation
  4. 04Molecular findings

What does the genomic evidence show, and how strong is it?

AVATAR Discovery Process

Experimental
  1. 01Selected tumour mutations
  2. 02Engineered fruit-fly model
  3. 03Drug screening
  4. 04Experimental observations

What responses were seen when candidate drugs were screened in the model?

Integrated report

Molecular findings, screening observations, limitations and considerations for assessment.

KPCIRC Molecular Tumour Board

Reviews findings, interpretation, clinical context and therapeutic implications.

Treating oncologist

Finalises and signs the report. Retains ultimate clinical ownership of treatment decisions.

Computation provides molecular evidence; screening provides experimental evidence; the MTB reviews; the treating oncologist owns the decision.

How collaboration works

Scoped together, governed from the start

  1. 01

    Initial enquiry

Tell us your organisation, role and research question. Patient data and genomic files are exchanged later, through a secure channel.

  2. 02

    Scoping discussion

Define the question, data inputs, deliverables, roles, governance and timelines together.

  3. 03

    Confidentiality and data governance

A secure channel and the appropriate confidentiality, data-access and consent arrangements are put in place before any sensitive information is exchanged.

  4. 04

    Ethics and approvals

Where applicable, ethics committee approval and an approved protocol govern participation, sample use, consent and eligibility.

  5. 05

    Study conduct and reporting

Work proceeds under the agreed protocol, and publication terms are agreed in advance.

Discuss a research collaboration.

Tell us your organisation and broad question. Please do not send confidential or patient data through the website.
