OnKommon AVATAR · Biological investigational plan

From genome to biological response.

An integrated discovery workflow for solid tumours — combining cancer genomic interpretation with investigational, mutation-informed biological drug-response research.A biological investigational plan

01 · Interpret

Interpret the genome.

The tumour genome is sequenced by whole-exome sequencing. Variants are catalogued, filtered and annotated, and each alteration is weighed against curated evidence.

02 · Model

Select the mutations to model.

Selected tumour-associated mutations, found by the genomic analysis, guide the design of an engineered Drosophila melanogaster model.

02 · Model · Drosophila melanogaster

An engineered fruit-fly model.

The chosen mutations are introduced into the fly genome to study selected aspects of the tumour's biology.

03 · Screen

Screen candidates in the model.

Candidate drugs and combinations are tested in the engineered model for measurable outcomes.

04 · Observe

Record what the biology shows.

Responses are recorded and quantified for review.

Two evidence streams

Computational and experimental — kept labelled.

The OnKommon Interpreter's computational observations and the AVATAR Discovery Process's experimental model observations come together in one integrated report, each labelled by the kind of evidence it is.

05 · Review

Reviewed by the MTB. Signed by the oncologist.

Every integrated report is reviewed by KPCIRC's Molecular Tumour Board, then finalised and signed by the treating oncologist — who makes every treatment decision.

Try it · Reading an output

Read an AVATAR output like an expert.

Seven statements. For each, decide what an AVATAR output supports.

Choose an answer for each statement.

  1. 01The engineered model carries alterations selected from the tumour's genome.

  2. 02A candidate changed a measured outcome in the model, under the conditions tested.

  3. 03The finding is a hypothesis worth further investigation.

  4. 04The candidate drug will work for the patient.

  5. 05The candidate drug is safe for the patient.

  6. 06The candidate is approved for the patient's cancer.

  7. 07The oncologist should choose treatment based on this result.

Nothing you choose here is stored or sent anywhere.

08 · Who it is for

Researchers, translational teams and clinicians

For oncologists, translational teams and research partners working with solid tumours — every AVATAR begins with whole-exome sequencing, read by the OnKommon Interpreter.

The treating oncologist owns every decision. Every AVATAR integrated report is reviewed by KPCIRC's Molecular Tumour Board, then finalised and signed by the treating oncologist.
