Candidate-drug screening.

Candidate drugs and combinations are tested in the engineered model for measurable outcomes. Responses are recorded with their limits kept for review.

How screening is structured

Candidates, controls and replicates

Screening compares how the engineered model responds to candidate drugs or combinations against appropriate controls, measuring pre-defined outcomes. The candidates in scope, the measured endpoints and the experimental methods are defined for each study.

AVATAR does not imply universal drug screening: only the candidates in scope are tested.

Reading a screening result

Four things a screening result is not

  • Not a prescription

A candidate in an output is not a treatment recommendation.

  • Not an approval

It says nothing about regulatory approval for the patient's indication.

  • Not safety evidence

Tolerability in a fly is not evidence of safety in a person.

  • Not proof of efficacy

A response in flies is not proof of efficacy in a patient.

Candidate-drug screening

Experimental model observation
What happens
Candidate drugs and combinations are tested in the engineered model for measurable outcomes.
Inputs
The engineered model and the candidate drugs or combinations defined for the study.
Intended output
Measured responses in the model.
What it establishes
How the model responded to the candidates under the conditions tested.
Why it matters
Experimental evidence on candidates, gathered before any decision is made for the patient.

Experimental observations

Experimental model observationFor oncologist assessment
What happens
Responses are recorded and quantified for review.
Inputs
Screening results.
Intended output
An observation summary for each candidate and combination.
What it establishes
Experimental evidence that adds to computational prediction.
Why it matters
It adds measured biology to the molecular prediction.
